The Parsippany - Troy Hills Rotary Club was founded in 1963. The club has undertaken numerous local, national and international projects. These projects have included aid to flood victims, providing heart surgery for children in countries that can not perform sophisticated procedures, food for hungry, medical equipment for the Ukraine and many other worth while projects. We have recently made donations to the Deirdre O'Brien Child Advocacy Center of Morris County right here at home.

Besides doing good things for the community, the club enjoys a wide variety of excellent social activities. It is truly a fun club.

Ever consider becoming a Rotarian?
"He Profits Most Who Serves Best"

Joining a Rotary Club isn't for everyone. Some might even consider a few of us a little odd. But what we all like most about the club is its diversity.

When Paul Harris created the first Rotary Club in 1905, he consciously sought members of diverse background, figuring that if he was going to take the time to meet new people and learn new things, who better to seek out than someone with a different point of view? That tradition has persisted to this day, when Rotary is represented by virtually every race, religion, nation, philosophy, political persuasion, and astrological sign consistent with the dictates of The Four-Way Test. If worldwide peace is ever to become a reality, isn't this the way we must learn to live - to respect, honor, and appreciate every good human being? That's hard work; but it's good work.

So if you're the peculiar sort of person who thinks you might be interested in joining a Rotary Club, here's what you gotta do:
  • Learn the secret handshake (just kidding...)
  • You must be sponsored by a current member. (Practically everyone knows a Rotarian or two; but if you don't, seek one out; they're pretty friendly).
  • Encourage your Rotary pal to take you to a meeting or two, just to size us up; judge for yourself whether you think our group has something to offer you (and vice versa).
  • If you're still interested (and you still have your sponsors). complete an application and return it to your sponsors.
  • From this point forward, your sponsors become your mentors; they'll be like your Mom.
  • Prior to admittance, you will be given clear expectations of what our Club believes are the obligations of of every member, which focus on community service at the local, regional, and international levels.
  • There is an attendance requirement in addition to participating actively in fund-raising events each year.
  • Rotary is not a business club; it is a service club. Don't join just because you think it might be "good for business." (There are definitely easier ways of making a living.)
  • The area's Rotary Clubs, are a vital organization and you will be expected to do your part. Members find this work and this fellowship to be gratifying, stimulating, challenging, and fun.
Remember:
  • Rotary is an international service organization of business and professional persons united worldwide whose mission is to provide humanitarian service to people of all backgrounds, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
  • The primary objective of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
  • The Four-Way Test is the credo of Rotary:

The 4 way test is four short questions, just 24 words that encourage creative, effective solutions in problem solving situations.

Herbert J Taylor, author of The 4-Way Test, founded a non-profit organization in 1959 to help promote the use of The 4-Way Test in communities around the world. He had found that using The 4-Way Test creates an atmosphere and attitude in which people can better relate and share ideas.

The 4-Way Test had been translated into more than 100 languages. Much of this growth was and is spearheaded by Rotarians.

Learn It, Live It, and Love It.
