SAFETY TOWN |
Safety town is a 2 week “school"
designed to teach young children (entering kindergarten or 1st grade) how to avoid and handle
dangerous situations through classroom and hands-on instruction.
The dates this year are June 23 to July 3. It will be held at Parsippany PAL, 61 Baldwin Rd.

Topics covered include “911”, Seat Belts, Police
Officers, Traffic Lights and Parked Cars, Bus and Playground
Safety, Toys, Poisons & Electrical Safety, Ambulance &
First Aid, Animal Safety, Strangers and Child Abuse, Fire Department,
Water & Bicycle Safety.
Safety Town is conducted by the Parsippany Rotary in conjunction
with th Parsippany Area Continuing Education Office and the
Police Department. Instruction is provided by a certified elementary
teacher and officers of the police department. In addition counselors
from both INTERACT clubs are assigned to assist groups of 4
students.
Instruction is also given by the fire prevention bureau, board
of education transportation dept., the local fire department, the Parsippany Building Dept, The animal control
dept, and the rescue squad.
Yearly enrollment runs from 80 to 100 children in 2 1-1/2 hour
sessions. |

an Interact Club in each High
School in town. Interact is
a program for developing leaders of High School age. Rotary
International is the World's largest provider of scholarships,
and the Parsippany Club has been awarding scholarships in each
